Marvel Rivals May 28 Patch Notes: New Alchemax Map, Hero Buffs, and Anti-Cheat Updates

The developer team behind NetEase’s hit superhero shooter isn’t slowing down. Following a massive seasonal launch, the Marvel Rivals May 28 patch notes (Version 20260528) have officially dropped, delivering a thrilling wave of fresh content.

This minor mid-week update requires zero server downtime, allowing teams to jump straight into action. From an iconic new map set in the far future to sweeping balance adjustments for the Blood Hunt game mode, this breakdown covers everything players need to know.

The Headline Feature: Alchemax Headquarters Map

Players are leaving the modern era behind to travel to the cyberpunk world of Nueva York 2099. The crown jewel of the Marvel Rivals May 28 patch notes is the arrival of the Alchemax Headquarters map.

Map Lore & Mode

Alchemax is a ruthless mega-corporation running classified, dangerous experiments behind closed doors. To stop a timeline Incursion, Devil Dinosaur has charged into the facility equipped with a portable Timestream Reintegration Device (TRD) to drag corporate secrets into the open light.

  • Game Mode: Doom Match
  • Setting: Cyberpunk skyscrapers, highly vertical combat lanes, and high-tech corporate laboratories.

Limited-Time Events: Chrono-Rush & Weekend Surge

NetEase is introducing two major gameplay events to maximize progression over the coming weeks.

1. Chrono-Rush Event

The Time Variance Authority (TVA) is putting players to work. During active event windows, players can jump into matches to earn Chrono Tokens. Crucially, there is no cap on how many tokens can be earned—the more hours invested, the higher the rewards.

2. Weekend Surge (Double XP)

To assist players in upgrading their roster to Avengers-level threats, Double XP will trigger over the weekend.

Blood Hunt Balance Adjustments: Massive Hero Buffs

For players testing their grit in the intense Blood Hunt mode, the Nightmare difficulty cap has officially been raised to 200. To offset this extreme challenge, a super-soldier level wave of stat buffs has rolled out across multiple hero builds.

The Punisher (Frank Castle)

Frank receives major upgrades across two primary archetypes to enhance his raw firepower:

  • The Barrager Build: Increased base damage scaling for Adjudication through the Rifle of Retribution and Vibranium Barrel gear setups. Split bullets from Shrapnel Shot and extra bullets from Multi-Trajectory also received high base damage increases.
  • The Sweeper Build: Shotgun damage values via Deliverance have been increased. Damage falloff for Piercing Shot has been reduced, and a bug with the Chain Reaction explosive damage bonus has finally been fixed.

Moon Knight & Squirrel Girl

  • Moon Knight (Fist of the Moon God): Increased damage scaling for Eclipse Explosions. The Gauntlets of Thoth gear now grants a flat percentage of independent Damage Reduction, though the base damage of Hand of Khonshu was slightly nerfed to keep combat balanced.
  • Squirrel Girl (Rodent Commander): Squirrel Friends receive a substantial damage boost from the Great Lakes Avengers Banner gear. Additionally, Squirrel Missile damage now dynamically scales based on active minion damage.

Blade & Silver Soulbreaker

  • Blade (Purging Bladedance): Slash damage output via the Ancestral Sword has been buffed. Spreading paths for Blade Shadows now clear quicker, and the Twilight Whetstone gear provides bonus Damage Reduction.
  • Silver Soulbreaker Build: Hunter’s Shotgun damage values are boosted. The Reap trait now temporarily guarantees a critical hit rate while scaling up dodge capabilities instantly after casting.

Tank & Support Buffs: Jeff and Thor

The remaining balance changes focus heavily on boosting durability and damage interactions:

[Hero Balance Breakdown]
├── Jeff the Land Shark
│ ├── Riding the Rapids: Higher Max Health & damage after swallowing an enemy
│ └── Overflowing Waters: Increased continuous damage on Drowning enemies
└── Thor
├── Thunder Formation: Storm Surge damage scales higher per point of Thorforce
└── Rune Awakening: Reduced projectile spread angle on Rolling Thunder

Fair Play: Anti-Cheat Rank Compensation System

Following recent ban waves, NetEase is integrating a revolutionary system to protect competitive integrity. The new Anti-Cheat Rank Compensation System enters its live trial run this week.

If a player encounters a cheater in a Ranked Match, submits a successful report, and the security system confirms the violation, the affected player will receive a full refund for all Ranked Points lost during that specific match.

Important Note: Because Placement Matches do not award explicit numerical points, they are excluded from this safety net compensation protocol.

Store Additions & Customization Options

A fresh wave of cosmetic bundles arrives in the in-game shop starting May 29, 2026.

In-Store Bundles

  • Black Cat: Wild Card Limited Bundle (Available until June 26), featuring Purple Prowl and Pink Purr Chroma variants, along with head, neck, and waist style parts.
  • Wolverine: X-2099 Bundle.
  • Black Cat: Wild Card Emoji Bundle.

Community-Driven Daredevil Updates

Listening to community feedback surrounding Daredevil’s Shadowed Start costume, the developers have delivered two requested toggles free of charge:

  1. Weapon Adjustments: The default weapon swaps to the highly requested White Billy Club. The older Black Billy Club remains accessible as a free customization swap.
  2. VFX Toggle: Players can now turn off the screen-cluttering “Demon’s Rage” flame VFX on their own display screen. Other players in the lobby will still view the full visual effect normally.

Bug Fixes & Optimizations

  • Deadpool: Fixed an annoying movement bug where Wade Wilson’s Hazardous Hijinks and Healing Hijinks dashes were being completely body-blocked by enemy hitboxes without processing proper melee damage. Katanas will now slice cleanly through crowded combat zones.
